Hello everyone, so sorry it has been so long since I posted my first blog. School has been all over the place. Today marks the first day of my last week of school and geez it is so crazy to think I am so close to being done and then in just a few short weeks I will be graduating. Thank you so much for all the support already, it truly means the world.
Here are a few updates:
- My squad actually had a route change and now instead of us traveling to Costa Rica for our second country we will be traveling to Guatemala. This is because we are trying to help out ministry partners in these countries the best way we can. Here is a little bit of information from the email we received about our route change: “As we finalize our plans for these upcoming routes, we saw an opportunity to really serve the ministry at our bases, which we think will be a win for everyone. In Costa Rica, a win would be having a squad to support their ministry partners during their busiest seasons in the fall and spring; in Guatemala, a win would be having six months of back-to-back ministry with different squads in their ministry areas to see the greatest impact. With those goals in mind, we have decided to make a route change. Route 2will be going to Guatemala as their second country (instead of Costa Rica). Route 3 will be going to Costa Rica as their third country (instead of Guatemala). We know the Lord has His hand over this change and we know that He is preparing something amazing for each of you. Guatemala and Costa Rica are both incredible countries where we have incredible ministry partnerships, and we believe you will still get to enjoy the cultural experience of a Central American country in each of these.”
- If you live in Jacksonville, coming up on Friday, May 10th I am having a fundraiser at Taziki’s on Beach Blvd. and I would love to see you there. Dine and donate. Come eat dinner on Friday, May 10th from 5-8pm. Just mention Sumer when you order and Taziki’s will donate a portion from the price of your meal to help me serve on mission.
- I am currently 18% of the way to my goal of $16,600. I am trying to reach my first deadline of $5,000, then right after that I have a deadline of $10,000, and of course to be fully funded I have to have the full $16,600. The deadline of $10,000 will officially allow me to launch with my squad in the beginning of September. I hope that you would prayerfully consider donating so that I can reach these deadlines and then hopefully be fully funded by the time I am ready to launch.
I also want to tell y’all a little about my squad. We now have a total of 23 people, which makes us the smallest squad of the six Routes launching. We are very diverse because out of the 23 of us we are coming from 15 different states around the country. We have been face timing as much as we can so that we can get to know each other before we meet at Training Camp in July. We also text and Snapchat daily, which has been great!
I ask that you would not only be praying for me, but for my entire Squad as well as we are all preparing to go on this trip. I also promise to start posting blogs more often!
